Community Empowerment and Development Initiative (CEDI), Warri, is a registered non-governmental and non-profit organisation established to reduce discrimination, violence and poverty among women, youths and children, while advancing sustainable community development. CEDI emerged in 2008 following community field work in selected Delta State communities. The process exposed persistent barriers facing women and reinforced the need for an independent platform capable of connecting communities, civil society, government and development partners around practical solutions. Today, CEDI focuses on livelihoods, peace and security, women’s rights, governance, environmental justice, poverty reduction and social inclusion across the Niger Delta. Gender mainstreaming is central to its programmes and partnerships.

CEDI builds relationships and alliances among government officials and CSOs as it campaigns for policy reforms through policy dialogue platforms. CEDI often organizes public hearings and interface with communities and public officials on issues related to governance, transparency and accountability

Women, Peace & Security
Convened the Delta State Women Peace and Security Network and supported implementation of UNSCR 1325.
Community Early Response
Supported a women-led initiative in Ossissa that attracted government action on farmer-herder conflict.
